A filling replaces the part of the tooth that has been lost because decay has caused a cavity in the tooth or because the tooth has broken. One option in restoring the tooth is to have a white filling, commonly known as a ‘Composite Filling’.
Many people have fillings, the majority being of grey metal called ‘Amalgam’. Fillings do not just have to be functional, they can also be aesthetically pleasing and thus many patients no longer have the desire for amalgam fillings because they are visible: with most white fillings, no-one would know it was there.

What’s a filling?
A filling repairs a tooth damaged by cavity, chip. or wear, helping it look and work like normal again.
Will it hurt?
No, we numb the area first. You might feel a little pressure, but most people find it very comfortable.
How long will my filling last?
With good care, fillings can last many years. We’ll check them at your regular visits.
Can i eat after my filling?
Yes, once the numbness wears off. We’ll let you know if you need to wait a bit longer.
What if my filling comes out?
Call us right away. Avoid chewing on that side until we can see you.
How do I look after it?
Brush twice a day, floss daily, and see us regularly. Avoid biting hard things like ice or pens.
